Description
This etchant is ideal for preparing concrete with a key so that paint adheres for longer or to make a smooth concrete floor less slippery.

It can also be used as a powerful cleaner for smartening up stained brickwork, porous tiles and vertical surfaces or to remove surface laitance. (These are dusty cement particles which you can scrape off). It is easy to apply and very effective.

The best way to apply this is to pour it into a watering can that has a rose spout and sprinkle on as though you were watering your plants. You may be well wondering how come something that can eat through concrete doesn't instantly dissolve your watering can? Trust us, it doesn't. Etch It is formulated to act on concrete. In fact, if your concrete is sealed it won't make much impression, so only use on bare concrete.

NB:Please do not use Etch It on painted or sealed surfaces or sand or cement screeds, There is no need.

Coverage approx. 20m² (222 sq ft) per 5 litres (1 gallon). A second coat may be required if your floor is in very poor condition.

Preparation & Application
Preparation
To see if you need Etch It Floor Etchant to prepare your concrete surface, simply rub the edge of a coin across it and see if a powdery film comes off. If so then this is caused by laitance (dusty cement particles) and you need to treat it with our product.

Simply clean the floor thoroughly to remove traces of grease or oil and leave to dry and you’re ready to apply the product.

Application
Apply Etch It Floor Etchant evenly to ensure all areas receive a full treatment. We suggest you use a plastic watering can with a rose spout.

Make sure the surface is clean and dry and apply the etcher, giving it a good scrub, with a stiff broom. Wait 15 minutes until the frothing has stopped and then flush the area thoroughly with lots of water – it’s so simple.

A second coat may be required if your floor is in very poor condition.

You’ll know if the job is finished when you re-scrape the surface area with a coin and no powdery film is left.
